EAT IN ASIA / Food destinations / Philippines - filipino food
What would you say for a good cup of coffee in the Old Town of the Philippines’ capital – Manila? Doesn’t it sound great? For us, it does. We have already visited other Starbucks coffee stores in antique interiors like for example the one in Antigua, in Guatemala (Check our experiences that we described in the post: Starbucks Coffee in Antigua Guatemala). A beautiful scenery, a nice atmosphere and all important sightseeing places within a hand’s reach. Apart from that a really good coffee, a very helpful and a very nice stuff. Apart from that a wide selection of coffees and non-coffee beverages. And another important thing is that you can have your coffee the way you love it!
We spent in Manila a couple of days, and it was always a very nice break during the day to enjoy a mug of coffee in this Starbucks. I must admit that the stuff was so positive, so great and so helpful that it was a really big pleasure to return to this coffee store. Apart from that, a couple of tables located outside created a nice, slightly private atmosphere. Although there was a lot of people coming in and out, this tiny area with the view on the street was always a little bit forgotten by tourists.
Actually, visiting this place became our daily ritual. Sounds weird? Maybe, but for us that was a great break during the day. That was also a very good moment for chatting, having some discussions and for planning our afternoon and evening in Manila. Although we stayed close to the Chinatown of Manila in Ongpin, Binondo, and we had other Starbucks stores closer, we loved returning to this unique one in the Old Town. A long, slaw stroll was always worth it.
Every day we were ordering same products – two venti coffees and a Danish cinnamon roll. It was so nice, that after two or three days of returning to the same Starbucks, the stuff knew and remembered us, our names and even what we would like to order. They remembered all proportions, variations and even that we wanted our coffees to be sprinkled with a little bit of cinnamon.
I was always having cappuccino venti, while my husband preferred latte. So, two venti coffees with some cinnamon and an aromatic Danish cinnamon roll as a nice snack for sharing.
What a great time! And although this set might seem to be very basic, especially during the Christmas time when the coffee menu list is wider and includes special beverages like these with gingerbread or with toffee nut flavor. So, the menu was extended by drinks like Gingerbread Latte, Toffee Nut Crunch Latte, Toffee Nut Crunch Cold Brew and Peppermint Mocha.
Apart from that, the dessert list gained some new Christmas positions like a Chocolate Crepe Cake, Chocolate Chip Overload Cookie and Red Velvet Whoopie Pie.
Well, all that sounds great, but nothing can replace a regular cup of coffee with some milk. Especially when the coffee type is good, has an adequate aroma, intensity and body!
